2024 Genesis GV60 vs 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron

While some drivers see the switch to all-electric platforms as a setback, others see great opportunity in its innovative energy output and greater real estate. The new Genesis GV60 does an excellent job of making the most out of its electric platform with optimal power and high-tech safety features, all while maintaining that Genesis charm we’ve known to love. Audi’s new Q4 e-tron may save you on gas money, but the rest of the car spells “average” in every way.

Performance

Genesis wanted to make sure that your GV60 feels like yours by offering 3 distinct powertrains, each designed to cater to the preferences of their many customers while offering incredible range. The standard 168kW Rear Motor setup is perfect for the average commuter with 225 horsepower and an MPGe rating of 125 in-city and 99 highway miles to conquer your daily drive. For a little more of a kick, the next step up is a 234kW Dual Motor system with 314 horsepower in the Advanced model. But for those who want to push the GV60 to the limit, the Performance model is practically suited for the racetrack with up to 429 horsepower on a 320kW Dual Motor platform. When it comes to Genesis, there is truly something for everyone.

What’s the power output like in the new Q4 e-tron? The only available setup is barely capable of 295 horsepower. While this may be more than the GV60’s standard, it still falls greatly behind in the mileage category. If the point of going all-electric is to save money on gas, then the GV60 Rear Motor is better suited with 125/99 MPGe compared to the Q4 e-tron’s 100/89 MPGe rating.

Safety Features

Other than showcasing immense style, Genesis is also known for delivering cutting-edge technology to bring you a next-gen experience. This certainly goes for the GV60’s range of safety and driver-assist features, going beyond the usual standard components and offering more advanced systems of your favorites, such as:

  • Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 which can perform diagonal, perpendicular, and parallel parking without you needing to be in the vehicle.

  • Highway Driving Assist 2, putting cruise control to the next level with an advanced vehicle-distancing system for increased proactive protection.

  • Advanced Rear Occupant Alert uses ultrasonic sensors to detect movement in the back seat to make sure you don’t leave anything important behind.

  • Intelligent Speed Limit Assist which detects speed limit signs and automatically adjusts your speed to that limit.

Genesis never ceases to amaze with brand-new innovations in each new model that make it a worthy upgrade from their previous versions. Unfortunately, Audi didn’t follow suit when designing the new Q4 e-tron. You’ll have access to the usual pre-collision systems, advanced cruise control, lane guidance, and so on, but the interface provides a similar experience to what you see in most newer cars today.

Interior

Your comfort while on the road is a huge part of your overall driving experience. It doesn’t matter if you have the fastest car or the best technology if you don’t like sitting in your chair, and that’s why Genesis equipped the new GV60 to offer seats that are both extremely comfortable and look absolutely stunning, especially in the available Nappa leather. Heated and ventilated seating sets you up for any time of year, and the driver has the luxury of treating themselves to power cushion extensions, bolsters, and Ergo Motion technology. The GV60’s cabin is also highly advanced with unique technology like Face Connect and Fingerprint Authentication to tailor your ride to you. The 17-speaker B&O audio system and now-iconic crystal sphere shifter are also welcome additions to this incredible cabin experience.

While there’s too much to list off when it comes to the new Genesis GV60, the latest Q4 e-tron can be summarized in one short sentence. It has regular leather chairs with only heating for the front seats, a smaller 10.25-inch infotainment cluster, and an available (yet not as popular) Sonos sound system. Compared to the GV60, the Q4 e-tron is less than impressive.

Bottom Line

The 2024 Genesis GV60 is the perfect choice whether you’re looking for the best mileage, highest power output, new-age safety features, or a decked-out cabin. It flawlessly excelled in every category and exceeded all of our expectations. Even after reviewing every detail, it was a near-impossible challenge to find any edge that the Q4 e-tron has over the GV60, all the more reason to go with Genesis’ prized EV.
