Can a Genesis EV Use a Tesla Supercharger?
Genesis electric vehicles can use Tesla Superchargers that have been opened to compatible non-Tesla vehicles. However, not every Tesla charging location necessarily supports every Genesis vehicle.
Your charging setup depends on the port installed on your EV:
- 2026 Genesis electric vehicles with a native NACS port can connect directly to compatible Tesla Superchargers.
- Earlier Genesis EVs with a CCS1 port need a Genesis-approved NACS-to-CCS DC fast-charging adapter.
Drivers should confirm station compatibility in the Genesis Intelligent Assistant app or Tesla app before beginning a trip. Charger access, pricing, availability, and supported vehicle types can vary by location.
| Genesis EV | Charging Port | Tesla Supercharger Equipment |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 Genesis EV | Native NACS port | No NACS-to-CCS adapter needed at compatible stations |
| Earlier Genesis EV with CCS1 | Native CCS1 port | Genesis-approved NACS-to-CCS adapter required |
Which 2026 Genesis Models Have Native NACS Charging?
Beginning with the 2026 model year, Genesis transitioned its electrified vehicles to native NACS charging ports. Current Genesis EVs with NACS capability include the:
- 2026 Genesis GV60
- 2026 Genesis Electrified GV70
A native NACS port allows these vehicles to connect directly to compatible Tesla Superchargers without placing an adapter between the charging cable and vehicle.
The 2026 GV60 and Electrified GV70 can also use other supported NACS charging networks. Access to CCS-equipped stations may require the appropriate Genesis-approved CCS adapter, depending on the charging equipment supplied with the vehicle.
What If Your Genesis Has a CCS Charging Port?
Earlier versions of the Genesis GV60, Electrified GV70, and Electrified G80 were built with CCS1 charging ports. These models require a compatible NACS-to-CCS adapter to use participating Tesla Superchargers.
Genesis previously offered complimentary adapters to qualifying owners whose eligible vehicles were purchased or leased by January 31, 2025. That program has concluded, and outstanding complimentary adapter offers had to be redeemed by September 30, 2025.
Owners who still need an adapter should contact an authorized Genesis retailer for current pricing and availability.
Use a Genesis-Approved Adapter
Genesis advises owners to use an adapter supplied or approved by Genesis. Vehicle damage caused by an unapproved third-party adapter may not be covered by the Genesis vehicle warranty.
The Genesis NACS-to-CCS adapter is intended for compatible DC fast-charging stations. It should not be used with Level 1 or Level 2 AC charging equipment.
Are All Tesla Chargers Compatible With Genesis EVs?
No. The phrase “Tesla charger” can refer to several different types of charging equipment.
| Tesla Charger Type | Charging Type | Genesis Compatibility |
|---|---|---|
| Compatible Tesla Supercharger | DC fast charging | Native NACS connection or approved NACS-to-CCS adapter, depending on vehicle |
| Tesla Magic Dock Supercharger | DC fast charging with station-provided CCS adapter | May support compatible CCS-equipped Genesis EVs |
| Tesla Destination Charger | Level 2 AC charging | Compatibility depends on the vehicle, station access, and correct AC charging equipment |
Before driving to a station, check whether it supports your model and connector type. A Tesla location appearing on a general map does not automatically mean that every charger at that location will work with your Genesis.
How Do You Find a Compatible Tesla Supercharger?
Genesis owners can locate compatible charging stations through the Genesis Intelligent Assistant app or the Tesla app.
Using the Genesis Intelligent Assistant App
Available charging functions may require:
- An active MyGenesis account
- Genesis Connected Services
- Enrollment in Genesis Pay
- Public charging activated in the app
Supported app functions can include locating stations, starting a charging session, monitoring progress, and processing payment.
Using the Tesla App
You can also create a Tesla account, add your compatible non-Tesla vehicle, locate an eligible Supercharger, select the numbered charging stall, and begin the session through the app.
Always use the station listing associated with your specific vehicle. This helps prevent arriving at a Tesla location that has not been opened to your Genesis model.
How to Charge a Genesis at a Tesla Supercharger
The precise steps may vary by vehicle, app, adapter, and charging station. In general, the process is:
- Use the Genesis Intelligent Assistant app or Tesla app to locate a compatible Supercharger.
- Park close enough for the charging cable to reach the Genesis charging port without stretching or twisting the cable.
- Select the correct numbered stall in the charging app.
- If your Genesis has native NACS, connect the Supercharger cable directly to the vehicle.
- If your Genesis has CCS1, securely attach the approved NACS adapter to the charging connector before plugging it into the vehicle.
- Start the charging session in the applicable app.
- Monitor the battery level, charging speed, session cost, and any idle-fee information.
- When finished, stop the session through the app before disconnecting the cable.
- Remove and store your adapter, if one was used, and return the charging cable to the station.
Instructions displayed in the vehicle, charging app, station, adapter documentation, and applicable owner’s manual should take priority.
How Fast Will a Genesis Charge at a Tesla Supercharger?
Charging speed depends on the Genesis model, battery temperature, current state of charge, charging-station hardware, weather, and other conditions.
Genesis states that its EVs typically charge at approximately 95 to 125 kW when connected to Tesla V3 Superchargers. That can provide useful road-trip charging, but it may not take full advantage of the vehicle’s 800-volt ultra-fast-charging architecture.
For comparison:
- The 2026 Genesis GV60 can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes using a compatible 350-kW, 800-volt DC ultra-fast charger under suitable conditions.
- The 2026 Genesis Electrified GV70 can charge from 10% to 80% in as few as 19 minutes using a compatible 800-volt DC ultra-fast charger under suitable conditions.
A Tesla Supercharger may therefore provide broader station access without always delivering the fastest charging speed your Genesis can accept.
How Much Does Tesla Supercharging Cost?
Tesla Supercharging is not automatically complimentary for Genesis drivers. Pricing can vary by station, time of day, local electricity costs, and Tesla account or membership status.
The applicable app should display current pricing before or during the session. Some locations may also assess congestion or idle fees when a vehicle remains connected after charging has finished.
When planning a trip, compare:
- Price per kilowatt-hour or charging minute
- Expected charging speed
- Station availability
- Potential idle or congestion fees
- Nearby amenities
The fastest charger is not always the least expensive, and the least expensive charger may not be the most convenient for your route.
Genesis and Tesla Supercharging: The Bottom Line
Many Genesis EV owners can now use compatible Tesla Superchargers, but the required equipment depends on the vehicle.
- Choose a 2026 Genesis EV with native NACS for direct connection at compatible Tesla Superchargers.
- Use a Genesis-approved NACS adapter if your earlier Genesis EV has a native CCS1 port.
- Check the charging app before traveling because not every Tesla location supports every non-Tesla EV.
- Do not use a DC fast-charging adapter with incompatible Level 1 or Level 2 equipment.
- Expect charging speed to vary and understand that a Tesla Supercharger may not provide the Genesis vehicle’s maximum possible charging rate.
Expanded Supercharger access gives Genesis drivers more choices, particularly during road trips. CCS and other public charging networks remain useful when they offer more convenient locations, lower pricing, or faster 800-volt charging.
